| Customer Reviews: Excellent for the price February 28, 2010 Lilly St. James (Phoenix, AZ United States) I bought this for my workout room and for the money it is excellent. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is very good. I have a $3500 1080p TV in my main room and the picture quality is only somewhat better. For the price this thing fully delivers. We looked locally at TV's and couldn't even get a 720p for this price.
If you are going to nit pick or expect a $1000+ TV, then get your head screwed on right, it is not a high end TV but it is definitely not crap and the thing I really like about it is I have it up a little higher so I can see it to work out with but I can even see the picture and colors true when I'm on the floor stretching.
+ Amazon prime $3.99 overnight shipping to my door. The local store couldn't beat that if they tried.
I haven't received it yet...12 days later February 25, 2010 groff5 (Metamora, IL USA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
When I finally receive this TV, I will review it. But, for those who have not purchased it yet, BEWARE: the "2-day shipping via UPS or Fed Ex" is dead wrong. I ordered thinking I would have it in 2 days. When I didn't, I contacted Amazon and they said "Oh, well for big items it isn't 2day shipping". I asked why their website said it was 2-day (even with a 1-day option). They didn't really say, but refunded me some money (not sure how they determined the amount; maybe they have a pain and suffering factor), and said these always ship via special carrier. I asked them to change the web page, but it has been 5 days and it still says 2-day. MEANWHILE, I finally got a call from the trucking service and they will deliver it a mere 13 days after I ordered it. The shipment originated about 250 miles from where I live. I should have driven over to get it.
The most for your money February 10, 2010 Luc Belec (Florida) 10 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have a Sony 60" DLP 1080p and a PS3 (playing Blue-ray) for a couple years now, and I couldn't stand to watch in my bedroom, my CRT 32" on the cable anymore. Then I decide to spoil myself. I look at the 32" 720p They are cheap but the picture, well it's not 1080p... The Toshiba at 400$, 1080p 32" did sound good. But a 16:9 32" is the height of a 24" 9:4 and most of the time I will be watching the so call digital cable (what is a good picture on 9:4 ratio). Mean at the end I will have a smaller aria of view (effective view).
Then I look at 38, 40, 42, 50 and up. Ok 50 and up get really expensive and forget the LED tech. Then I make a little math to see the best ratio, price / surface. Find out the prices of LCD 1080p, not with pip or wireless, where in between 0.92$ to 1.20$ a square inches. But this one is standing out of the pack at 0.72$ sq.in. Then for 500$, a 40" is the best deal. Ya but, who are Proscan?
Google, Wikipedia, etc. then it is a very serious Co. who make monitor for medical equipments, PC, military, and was affiliated with RCA to make TV's and it's a Japanese base Corp. They have a similar guaranty of Toshiba, and other. Also it's coming from Amazon and if I don't like it, I can return-it. Ok, I got-it.
When I receive-it and install it, it look really nice. I turn it on then WTF... its look like 1.08p or even less. Ops... Well let test-it before returning-it. I put the PS3 and a good Blue-ray and still it's greedy, floe and pixcellated. Well, is that what I got for being cheap... I got drunk, left it on the all night... The next day, it didn't look that bad. I try to see if it's not something in the set-up. I play with the contrast, brightness and everything. Not much improvement but it was definitively greater then when I first start-it. Not as good as the Sony but them acceptable. I give it another day.
I did let it cool down (to see if it need to be hot), no difference. Later I watch a couple of movie on it... Of course I was getting please and happy.
At the end (a week later) I keep it and even recommend-it. It is very good, not as good as my Sony but I give it a 95% of it. I paid near 2000$ for the Sony and a 40" Sony will go for 950$ almost twice. If, for you the price is not a problem, then go for the Sony. For 500$, over 700sq,in. 1080p @60Hrz 3HDMI can't be yet beat. And I should add The tuner find almost twice as many digital channel then my Sony... What-up with that??? Now I have to see if the cable connection is good or is my Sony tuner is not properly set-up... So much fun for the money.
Great TV for the price February 3, 2010 Trooper Thorn (Maine, USA) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This TV is quite impressive, especially for the money. There are plenty of inputs, many of which are conveniently located on the side of the panel. As far as the picture goes, the color is fantastic, and the contrast is pretty good as well. Where this TV falls short is the uneven back-lighting. In a low light setting watching a dark scene, you can see portions of the screen are brighter than others, which can be annoying at best and distracting at worst. Aside from that, I have no complaints with the television. Were money no object, I'm sure the Proscan would rate lower, however the value you get out of this TV for the price is hard to match. It is a very fine budget LCD HDTV.
Great TV at a Great Price December 23, 2009 quovazi (IL - DC, VA, MD) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Bought this TV when it was on sale at costco for $399. Excellent picture quality, adequate inputs (3x hdmi, 2x component, 1x composite/s-video), and a nice sound system. It is also very slim in depth compared to other non-ultraslim flat screens.
Why I wouldn't give this tv 4-stars:
No USB input, second component input, or L/R audio output (you will have to buy a Y-audio cable for audio output).
When there is no sound on an input the speakers make this small popping noise. I don't know why that is. To accommodate the noise, I put the tv on mute and the popping stops.
Another shortcoming is the remote control range. It does not work if it is more than a 30-degree angle from the receiver or not at the same vertical level.
Overall, it is a great tv for a great price.
